Three exciting days where prospective students experience Rosebud first-hand through workshops, shows, and life in a thriving arts village.
Contact our Recruitment Officer to book your Discovery Weekend!
Get a taste of what it's like to live in Rosebud and train at Rosebud Theatre & School of Arts. You will participate in classes, hang out with students, see a show, work in hospitality, experience small-town life, ask all your questions, talk with instructors, and reflect on the direction your life is meant to take. By the end of the weekend, you will have a good sense of whether or not Rosebud is the right place for your growth as a Christian artist.
"The discovery weekend was an opportunity to get immersed in the school and discover if I was ready for this stage in my life. I found it to be an exciting opportunity to meet instructors and students. It made me comfortable for classes in the fall and it helped shape my decision to attend Rosebud School of the Arts." (Bethany - Rosebud graduate)
Schedule
Applicants usually settle into accommodation on Thursday afternoon and leave Sunday afternoon. The weekend is filled with various activities designed to give ample opportunity to discover Rosebud and to meet the staff and students. Applicants are scheduled to observe classes - for example: choir, acting, art - as they are offered, and they will attend a dinner and theatre performance. Applicants may be asked to assist with the daily tasks of a working dinner and theatre, such as serving patrons or washing dishes. An interview and talent assessment rounds out the weekend. A complete schedule of activities will be given to you upon arrival in Rosebud.
Talent Assessment
Please prepare a one-to-two-minute monologue and a song. Choose a monologue from an existing play; do NOT choose a piece from a video game, film or something you have written yourself. Many online sources can help you find a monologue or you can reach out to us and we can make some suggestions. The song will be sung a cappella (without accompaniment) or you may accompany yourself if you wish. No musical accompaniment is provided. The talent assessment is not an audition. It is an opportunity to express your artistic abilities and for the panel to see where you are at in your journey as a performer. It will be a safe and friendly atmosphere shared with other potential students and two staff members.
Discovery Weekend and Application Fee: $175
The fee covers everything you need on your Discovery Weekend, including accommodation, meals, workshops, classes, and shows. The cost also covers your application fee.
