It’s Christmas Eve. Watson has tracked down an elusive Sherlock Holmes, finding him in a dark mood, determined to retire from the tedious work of solving crimes. That evening, Holmes is haunted by his mortal enemy, Professor Moriarty who tells him he will be visited by three spirits on their way with a Yuletide lesson to save him from damnation. The cold-hearted detective is guided through the shadows of his past, present, and possible future, forced to solve the most important mystery of his life - his hardened heart. Merry Christmas, Sherlock!
I was drawn to this play because it takes the legendary Sherlock Holmes on a transformative journey on Christmas Eve. The way the author incorporates A Christmas Carol into Sherlock Homes is nothing less than brilliant. It's a Christmas mystery with heart, and you'll never see Sherlock Holmes in quite the same light again. I do love the surprise of it all.
