Rosebud Theatre is a professional theatre committed to the discovery and mentoring of new young talent and a theatre company whose productions consistently embrace stories that are uplifting to the human spirit.
How did Rosebud Theatre get started in Canada and how did it evolve to where it is today?
Rosebud Theatre began in 1983 when Rosebud School of the Arts organized the first live performance of its students as a fundraiser. Based on its early success, Rosebud Theatre was offering a full season of plays by 1988, and in 1991 moved into the 200 seat Rosebud Opera House. Today, Rosebud Theatre continues to offer live theatre from March to December, playing to over 40,000 people annually.
What kind of plays does Rosebud Theatre offer?
Rosebud Theatre's choice of plays varies from lighthearted to serious, comic to tragic, and common to noble. Our intent is to produce a full spectrum of family programming which uplifts and strengthens the participant. It is our belief that values, ideals and noble dreams are not born by chance or promoted by luck. People of goodwill must be inspired to live them. And as theatre artists, we must be inspired to tell stories that grapple with them. Ultimately, our plays are illustrations of the beauty and complexity of life and the reality of issues and choices facing humanity.

No. Currently, our tickets can only be ordered over the phone or in person.

Do I need to purchase tickets in advance or can I buy them when I arrive at Rosebud?
It is prudent to purchase tickets in advance of your attendance or you may purchase tickets at the Mercantile Box Office on the day of the performance, provided there is availability. Many of our performances sell out well in advance.
How do I get to the Rosebud Theatre? Where can I park my vehicle? Where can I eat? Are there nearby hotels and other accommodations?
We are located an hour from the northeast city limits of Calgary and about 25 minutes southwest of Drumheller. A road map is located on our website (www.rosebudtheatre.com) or we can provide a map via mail, fax or email. There is ample on-street parking available, with one parking lot located beside the museum. Locations are specified for bus parking as well. If you are attending an Opera House production, a full buffet dinner is provided with your ticket. Other dining facilities in the area are the Rosebud Country Inn teahouse and the Akokiniskway Golf Course. Accommodations in Rosebud include three bed and breakfasts and the Rosebud Country Inn.
Is there a gas station in Rosebud?
No, the closest gas stations would be in Standard or Rockyford.
Will I have an opportunity to meet the cast after the performance?
Yes, you can meet the cast in the lobby when they have had a chance to change out of costume.
